On Saturday the 20th of January, IH Palermo Language Centre hosted the IH South of Italy Teacher Training Day. Staff were joined by colleagues from other IH schools in the vicinity: IH Palermo London School, IH Catania and IH Reggio Calabria.
It was an action-packed day of ten different sessions, including plenaries and workshops across two streams. From YL techniques to multimedia usage and vocabulary drills, a wide range of topics were discussed and many ideas shared amongst presenters and colleagues.
Jennifer Holden, Director of Studies at IH Palermo Language Centre said: "We must say we felt so much positive energy this weekend, making us feel proud to belong to the IH Family. It all happened thanks to everybody's contributions; a big thank you to teachers for coming and being a part of it, especially those went the extra mile and gave seminars - all of which received great feedback form the participants. We really appreciated people giving up their free time in this way. We also got a lovely letter from James Blackburn, who started the first training day in Reggio Calabria last year, congratulating us for this achievement. We were moved and pleased to see how much people do to improve in order to nurture their goals."
IH Palermo Language Centre held the first part of the day in the John Haycraft Hall at its Training Centre. As the co-founder of International House, we think he would have been extremely proud of the sharing and flow of ideas, and the dedication shown by IH staff to language teaching!
