LSI / IH Portsmouth has been approved as a Cambridge English Exam centre, as well as a CELTA teacher training centre, offering some glimpses of light in the current difficult climate for our industry.
LSI / IH Portsmouth have been offering intensive exam preparation courses for many years but are able to now offer students the convenience of taking the FCE, CAE and CPE exams actually in the school. The first tests will take place in December 2020.
The first full-time CELTA course will take place in January 2021, and the first part-time in April 2021. The Course Director will be Lewis Richards, who said, “We are so excited to be able to run CELTA teacher training courses. I have been a tutor on a number of courses and it’s always been my dream to do this at LSI – and now we can!
"LSI has the right facilities and teaching team to deliver a fantastic CELTA course!”
LSI / IH Portsmouth are hoping to have guest tutors over the year and one of them will be Peter Watkins, co-author (with Scott Thornbury) of The CELTA Course, the definitive manual for delivering the course. He said, “I have worked with the academic team at LSI / IH Portsmouth over many years and I've always enjoyed the experience. The commitment they show to providing a great learning experience and to teacher development is obvious and so I have no doubt they will offer a really great CELTA course and I’m looking forward to contributing to it”.
