We are thrilled to welcome a new affiliate of the International House network which opened its doors on March 1st 2019 in Medellín, Colombia.
IH Medellín is a joint venture between two of International House’s most experienced members, Ariel López, and Jonathan Dykes.
The school will offer a wide range of English language courses for the local community, as well as CELTA courses for English language teachers. It will also operate as an exam centre for IELTS, Cambridge Assessment, and TEA (Test of English for Aviation).
Situated on the ‘Golden Mile’ of El Poblado district, the school occupies a suite on the 5th floor of a modern, mixed-use building and has been completely refurbished to function as a modern training and exam centre. Easily accessed by public or private transport, IH Medellin aims to quickly become one of the leading language training and exams providers in the city.
Speaking on why Medellín was chosen for this new venture, Jonathan said, “Colombia has a growing economy, is politically stable, and we know that the demand for language training and certification is strong from our previous experience in Bogotá.
“Medellín is the second largest city in the country and so it’s the logical next step for our expansion. What’s more, it’s a beautiful, dynamic city to work in, as anyone who has been there will tell you.”
Adding to this, Ariel noted that their combined experience will help the school stand out in a competitive market. “IH is synonymous with top quality academic standards and customer service,” he said. “Something that is perhaps less well known is that we are also the largest providers of the most prestigious internationally recognised English exams in the whole of Latin America.
“We’re confident that we can attract a good number of exam candidates in Medellín and that many of these people will be only too pleased to take an exam preparation course with us.”
