Once again, IH schools in German-speaking countries came together in November for the annual IH DaF conference.
Teachers from IH Baden-Zuerich, IH Freiburg, IH Heidelberg, IH Cologne, and of course IH Berlin, who hosted the event this year, were joined by teachers from IH Kharkiv, IH Prague and IH Bucharest. This is a great sign of how important a conference for German teachers is.
After a welcoming, the conference started with a plenary session by Stefan Deichsler from Hueber Verlag who looked at how we learn languages and what happens in our brains while we’re learning, but also why movement enhances learning.
Over 70 participants attended the workshops which included topics like ‘Context is Queen’, or about using digital tools for language teaching, how to motivate teenagers, why inclusion is important for everyone, and many more.
Overall this was yet again a great 2-day conference, well organised by the IH Berlin team, and with a lot of interesting ideas, practical activities, and many discussions during the breaks.
Some of the slides and handouts from the sessions will be made available soon for all German teachers around the IH network... watch this space!
