The City

Bordeaux, in the South-West of France, is the country’s 9th most populated city and is known throughout the world for its unique wines. This city has so much to offer such as art, history and thanks to its exceptional urban and architectural heritage, it is part of UNESCO’s World Heritage List. Bordeaux has also been voted the most attractive city by the French for its quality of life and has been elected the “trendiest” city to visit in 2017 by The Lonely Planet! With a lively nightlife, Bordeaux welcomes over 100,000 students each year, attracted by the quality of higher education and research, infrastructure, universities and of course unrivalled gastronomic delights.

You might know Bordeaux for its world famous wines/vineyards and have probably heard about its famous château’s, Château Latour, Château Margaux, Château Mouton Rothschild and other wonders of the French gastronomy. Bordeaux is of course the international capital of wine and of the entire way of life that comes with it. But Bordeaux, like many cities in France, is full of well-kept secrets that you need to discover to understand the beauty and identity of this unique city.

The city of Bordeaux is a jewel of architecture, culture, history, gastronomy and Arts de vivre in itself, one of its great appeals is the region surrounding it. The Bordeaux region is full of vineyards, Atlantic vegetation, forests, natural parks and of course the coastline, bursting with breathtaking nature is a wonderful change of scenery. Come climb the Dune du Pyla, largest sand dune in Europe, between forest and ocean, travel around the Arcachon bay to discover a precious and unique ecosystem that influenced authors such as Jean-Paul Sartre, Marcel Aymé or Jean Cocteau. Come walk for miles on the wild fine sandy beaches on the Atlantic coast around Lacanau, the region’s hotspot for surfers and sun bathers.
