Nearly seventy teachers from the various IH Portugal schools met up on the last Saturday of January for the annual IH Portugal Teachers’ Training Day – a chance to catch up with old friends and make new ones in the organisation while learning new classroom techniques .
This year it was held at the brand-new premises at IH Coimbra-Olivais. Eleven different sessions were given by various DOSes and Senior Teachers with topics including Demand High for Very Young Learners, integrating podcasts into teaching and ways of working on pronunciation. Each school brought homemade cakes to sell and raised a total of 126€ for ‘Renascer das Cinzas’ - a local organisation which is replanting woods and forests after the disastrous fires that hit Portugal last summer.
