International House Benghazi is proud to host in-house teacher training courses for local English teachers and to date has trained more than 100 teachers in the city, who now teach in public schools, universities, language centres and IH Benghazi itself.
Last month IH Benghazi held a graduation ceremony for trainees who passed the in-house Teacher Training course. This course is designed for Libyan English teachers who are new-in-service or teachers who have been teaching for many years but lack training. During the 120-hour course, trainees attended input sessions for the theoretical part, feedback sessions and six hours of teacher practice for the practical element. At the end of the course the trainees received certificates, took photos, enjoyed sweets and snacks and talked about their experience in front of the camera to encourage other teachers to sign up for the course.
Amen Eldraawi from IH Benghazi said: "Trainees were so impressed with the new approaches and techniques they had learnt compared to the traditional means of teaching English. I was so surprised that teachers who already teach in other places started using these techniques and saw the impact of the course on their students and their performance. It makes IH Benghazi the one and only place for teachers to improve their teaching methods".
Congratulations to all the trainees and the team at IH Benghazi - it's great to see such great work being done in the local community!
