General Plan IH Shanghai affiliates to IHWO

We are delighted to welcome General Plan IH Shanghai to the IH family!

General Plan Institute of Education has been a leader in using cutting-edge technologies to improve teacher education since 1998. In the early days, they used satellite technology to connect expert trainers with teachers in the most remote areas of China and, since the advent of the internet, they’ve pioneered the use of blended learning in many local government education districts by designing their own in-house platforms.

In more recent times, they’ve developed close ties with international partners, such as Cambridge Assessment English and a variety of existing IHWO schools, to introduce the best in ELT teacher training to the huge number of teachers and schools in China.

Some key achievements include becoming the world’s largest provider of Cambridge ICELT courses through their contracts with their local education bureau in Shanghai. In addition, they are the first training centre in China to offer Cambridge Delta Module 2.

Ray Childerstone, Director, said, “We’re really pleased and proud to become General Plan IH Shanghai. We’ve got to know so many great people in so many IH affiliates over the years that we already felt as if we were part of the family.  Now, by becoming part of the global network, we feel that we are where we belong.

“A key reason why we wanted to join the IH network is that, as we grow, we want to extend beyond our traditional focus on teacher training to a more diverse range of products to meet the needs of an ever more discerning Chinese market, such as study abroad courses and specialist exam preparation. We know that there is a great deal of expertise in the IH network that we can draw on and we hope that they will want to work with us on new projects.”
