The AMT Conference 2018 took place in Devonport House in London and was a highly successful event, gathering 115 attendees from 78 International House schools. Among the participants, 31 countries from the IH network were represented and 28 delegates were attending for the first time. Delegates included Teacher Trainers, Academic Managers, Directors of Studies and more!
The 3-day conference itinerary included workshops, discussions, networking opportunities and presentations. The presentations covered a wide variety of topics, from management and teacher training; to positive psychology and selfish altruism.
Some of the guest speakers included Simon Ward kindly sponsored by Cambridge University Press, Ceri Jones, Ben Goldstein, John Hughes, Laura Patsko and Mike Riley generously sponsored by Macmillan Education.
Friday night ended with a tasty Indian buffet and the 4th edition of the IHWO Quiz Night, followed by Karaoke and a disco that was enjoyed by all.
Lucy Horsefield, Chief Operating Officer of International House World Organisation said: “The IH AMT Conference is such an inspiring and energising start to the year. I am always so impressed by the expertise, dedication and professionalism of the Academic Managers and Trainers in our network. It is an enormous strength of our organisation that we have such committed people, who love to learn and share with their colleagues from all over the world.”
International House was joined by some amazing sponsors in this edition of the AMT Conference: Bournemouth English Book Centre, Cambridge Assessment English, Macmillan Education, Oxford University Press, National Geographic Learning, Cambridge University Press and English Teaching Professional.
It was a great event for the IH family and we are looking forward to seeing everyone next year! You can take a look at the AMT Conference video here.
