To develop teachers' theoretical knowledge of teaching, practical teaching ability and self-analytical skills.
(If pre-Diploma sessions are followed) To raise teachers' awareness of what they can expect from a Diploma level course and prepare them for it.
30 hours of input via 25 sessions. Candidates must choose a minimum of 20 sessions, covering topics such as theories of language learning, language learners, skills and systems. A further 30 hours will be spent on recommended reading, homework tasks and classroom-based action research. In addition there will be an end-of-course assignment. Course length varies according to the Teacher Training Centre.
The course is taught by qualified tutors who have their DELTA or MA. Participants are assessed on a portfolio comprising of homework tasks and a final assignment, all of which is moderated by the IH Assessment Unit. They are also expected to follow and contribute to the CAM course programme. There is no grading structure.
