Live Online Workshops

Did you know that International House World Organisation offers FREE monthly online workshops to staff in all IH schools?!

The Live Online Workshops (LOWs) provide easily accessible teacher development for staff at every level of the teaching spectrum and are a great way to share experience.

IH Teachers Online Conference

The 2016 Teachers Online Conference will be held on Friday May 13th and will feature lots of interesting ideas shared by teachers all over the IH network. Join us from 10.30am - 6pm, the timetable is available here: http://tinyurl.com/IHTOC8timetable and the full programme with session abstracts and instructions for accessing the Adobe conference room is here: http://tinyurl.com/IHTOC8programme

The conference takes place in the IH online conference room and is free and open to all. To join a session simply click on the room link (in the programme) and enter the room as a guest.

Synchronous Workshops

In a synchronous workshop everyone meets at the same time in one of our online classrooms. BUT, if you miss the live session, the workshops are usually recorded so you can catch up at a later date. The workshops are run once a month at two different time slots to cater for as many time zones as possible. They usually last about 90 minutes. All you need to take part is a pair of headphones and, if possible, a microphone. You will also need a reliable internet connection.

Asynchronous Workshops

As the name suggests, in this type of workshop there is no requirement to be online at the same time as other participants. An asynchronous workshop takes the concept of a 90-minute face-to-face workshop and spreads it over two to three weeks. This allows time for participants to fit the workshop around their teaching schedules. It takes place on http://www.ihonlinetraining.net our o,nline teacher training platform and all that is needed to take part is a reliable internet connection.

How do I sign up?

  • Unsurprisingly, these are very popular events so places are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • To make sure that there is good mixture of participants, and that places are shared our fairly, each IH school can only have a maximum of 10 participants in each workshop.
  • To reserve a place on a workshop click on the registration link provided and fill in the form. Once the workshop is full, no further registrations will be taken.
  • The day before the workshop begins those who have successfully signed up will be sent an email with further information and links to online classrooms.

NEXT WORKSHOP!

The next Live Online Workshop will be "Feedback as a Springboard for Learning" with Diana England, on Friday 22nd April at 12.00 GMT. You can find out more and sign up for the workshop here.
