IH Certificate Advanced Methodology (Online)

Who is it for?

  • Qualified teachers with at least one year’s full-time experience (600 teaching hours)
  • Experienced teachers wanting to expand their theoretical knowledge and skill base
  • Teachers aiming for a Diploma level qualification such as the Cambridge DELTA.

Aims

To develop teachers' theoretical knowledge of teaching, practical teaching ability and self-analytical skills.
(If pre-Diploma sessions are followed) To raise teachers' awareness of what they can expect from a Diploma level course and prepare them for it.


Content

19 sessions covering theories of language learning, language learners, skills and systems.


Structure & Assessment

The course is run online and taught by qualified tutors who have their DELTA or MA and an online teaching qualification. Participants are assessed on a portfolio comprising of homework tasks and a final assignment, all of which is moderated by the IH Assessment Unit. They are also expected to follow and contribute to the CAM course programme. The grading of the course is Pass or Fail.


Time Commitment

Six months, with participants spending a minimum of 7 hours per week online and doing tasks.


Prices

IH staff: £385 (excluding VAT)

               £462 (including VAT)

Non-IH staff: £540 (excluding VAT)

                        £648 (including VAT)

This price includes moderation by Cambridge English Language Assessment, in addition to the usual IHWO Assessment course moderation. This means that the certificate you receive if you pass the course will have the Cambridge English Language Assessment logo on it and the words ‘Moderated by Cambridge English Language Assessment’.

If the course fee will be paid by a business outside of the UK, candidates won’t be charged VAT. Individuals and VAT paying UK based companies will be charged VAT. If you are unsure if you are liable to pay VAT or not then please enquire upon application.

 


Dates

  • May 6th 2017 to September 23rd 2017 plus two weeks for the final assessment
  • October 14th 2017 to March 10th 2018 plus two weeks for the final assessment
