IH San Sebastián’s Junior Easter Programme: language, creativity & adventure
At IH San Sebastián, our Junior Easter Programme has long been a favourite for students aged 14–17 who want to improve their Spanish while living an international adventure.Â
This spring, the programme extends to three full weeks, from 30 March to 17 April, giving students more time to learn, explore and enjoy one of Spain’s most stunning coastal cities.
Each day includes three hours of dynamic Spanish lessons plus a 45-minute creative project session where students collaborate on a weekly group project. Their ideas truly shine — you can see their creativity in the videos they produced throughout the programme.
Beyond the classroom, students can join surfing sessions at La Zurriola Beach with our trusted partner Pukas Surf Eskola, ensuring a high-quality and safe Basque surfing experience that adds the right dose of thrill.
This extended format is something few schools offer: a powerful mix of language learning, culture, creativity and outdoor fun.
More time, more learning and more action — the Lacunza Easter experience just got even better: the perfect balance of immersion, creativity and adventure under the Basque spring sun.

Valencia during Las Fallas: The Ultimate Cultural Immersion
To understand Valencia, you must understand Las Fallas. It is a UNESCO-recognized festival, but for locals, it’s a ritual of satire and renewal. We spend a whole year building giant, ironic monuments that caricature society and politics, only to burn them to the ground to welcome spring.
For your students, this is a selling point unlike any other: total cultural immersion.
Excitement builds from 1 March with the daily Mascletà . This isn’t just a firework show; it’s a rhythmic, earth-shaking gunpowder symphony at 2 PM that locals revere. For students, this adrenaline rush quickly becomes a beloved daily ritual after class.
The city reaches its most impressive moment with La Plantà on 15 March, when around 800 Fallas monuments fill Valencia, turning it into an open-air museum, with installations on almost every corner. The streets pulse with music, flowers, traditional costumes and the aroma of churros with hot chocolate. Students also experience the moving Ofrenda a la Virgen, (flower offering) and marvel at traditional silk costumes.
The celebrations end on 19 March with La Cremà , when the monuments are set on fire in a dramatic and emotional finale, a collective act of purification that brings the whole city together in the glow of the flames.
At IH Valencia we ensure students don’t just watch; they participate. Alongside their Spanish course, they can join our cooking workshops to master authentic Valencian paella and even join local cooking competitions right on the street (Yes, we do cook paella on the streets!).
Las Fallas is the perfect opportunity for students to combine language learning with an unforgettable life experience.
A Year Back in Arabic: From Forgotten Words to Daily Confidence at IH Cairo
For fifty years, IH Cairo has been a premier destination for immersive Arabic language education programs in the world and a global standard of excellence. Staffed by TAFL-certified teachers, positioned in the heart of the vibrant Egyptian capital, and with success stories spanning three generations of students, travellers, and enthusiasts, who all came to experience the joy of Arabic in its many forms, IH Cairo stands as as a nexus of learning.
In this edition of the IH Study Abroad Newsletter, we are proud to share one of those stories with you: From a German mother and a Bulgarian father with an early upbringing in Egypt, Jake came to IH Cairo to reconnect with his past and rediscover the language he had grown up speaking but forgot with time. He was also interested in learning Arabic because it is one of the most widely spoken and culturally rich languages in the world. Jake’s success is truly monumental. He learned MSA and ECA with us for 12 straight months, reaching a level of proficiency that allows him to speak to anyone in any situation with incredible confidence. So much so that learning Arabic with us has equipped him to secure a lucrative career in Abu Dhabi.

Go Academy! IH Düsseldorf Building Connections in Mauritius & Madagascar
Germany offers excellent opportunities for international students. Many public and leading universities charge no tuition fees, while the healthcare sector urgently needs qualified nurses and doctors. Industry and skilled trades are also seeking young people who want to complete vocational training and build a career in Germany. GoAcademy! IH Düsseldorf partners with employers and hospitals and supports students with their applications and entry into the German job market.
To present the excellent career prospects and programs to young people from Africa, CEO Michael Rönitz and Catherine Thellier recently attended an education fair from Mauritius and Madagascar.
