New teachers might be assigned a mentor. Observations include 10-20 minute drop-ins soon after you join the school, up to two formal developmental observations, and opportunities to arrange peer observations. The staff room is very supportive, and senior staff are available to help with anything you need when planning.
Basic Russian lessons are provided for free, one hour once a week for your first year at IH Stavropol. These may continue in later years depending on demand.
What your timetable will look like
Your timetable will be a mix of classes, including 121s and in-company groups. As you are joining mid-year, the majority of your classes will be young learners (8 y.o. +) and teens, though you may be asked to cover adults. Lessons happen Monday to Saturday, with 2 days off (Sunday and 1 weekday).
You will generally teach up to a maximum of 36 teaching hours ( 1 teaching hour = 40 min.) in any one week. Basic salary is paid regardless of hours worked, and overtime is paid if necessary.
We also require teachers to participate in some activities in our social programme for students. The participation is also paid.
We support you with report writing, setting and marking continual assessments and how to keep our online registers up-to-date. Senior staff will help you to monitor student progress, and keep them informed through an online reporting system.
