About the role.
Salary: 1250 NET per month
Paid holidays: 22 (no time can be taken off outside of the academic calendar. These days are made up of time off at Christmas, Easter and several national holidays).
Teaching hours: Teachers will normally be scheduled to teach around 24 hours a week.
Where a teacher is allocated less than 24 hours a week the DoS will agree down hours duties with the teacher on a case by case basis or these hours may be redistributed to other parts of the year.
The successfully applicant will teach a variety of classes including YLs and possibly VYls mainly in one of our two teaching centers however the successful candidates will also teach classes off-site including in schools we work with and off-site business classes. As is common in Spain many teachers work split shifts. Classes can be as early as 8 am and finish as late as 10 PM. This means that Monday – Thursday can sometimes feel intense. Weekends are off with the exception of two Saturdays during the academic calendar. We offer classes on Fridays however the bulk of the teaching falls on a Monday to Thursday which allows weekly mandatory teacher’s meetings and regular CPD sessions to be held on Friday afternoons. All teachers are formally and informally observed as part of the center's professional development plan. Teachers are expected to plan and prepare on Fridays. The center employs two senior teachers and a DoS who will be on hand to provide constant support on teaching matters but the center can also offer some assistance in finding accommodation, obtaining a NIE and opening a bank account.
- Holiday: 22 days paid
About the school and City
Valladolid is a medium sized city about 150 KM north of Madrid. It is an affordable city and has all the facilities you would expect of a modern city like gyms, shopping facilities, cinemas etc. The city has a large student population and there are a wide range of bars and restaurants both in the center and outside of the center. Valladolid has an abundance of eating options (although largely Spanish) and has a yearly tapas festival. Culturally Valladolid boasts multiple theaters, it was the home of Cervantes and there is a museum dedicated to Christopher Columbus who had a house in Valladolid. Valladolid is an excellent place to learn Spanish and is often considered to be one of the easiest places to learn Spanish due to the easy to understand accent.
