Job Description

International House Como is seeking a passionate, enthusiastic, independent Assistant Director of Studies to help develop our new-born center in a lovely location, 5 minutes by the famous lake.

The Role:
Responsible for didactic aspects of a fast-growing school in the center of Como, minutes away from the famous lake.
The ADoS manages a teaching team and maintains high academic standards, works closely with the DoS who is based at the headquarters; the ADoS works closely with the Centre Manager to oversee all aspects of the school’s programmes and standards. The ADoS cooperates towards the achievement of IH Team Lingue goals, and promotes a professional, purposeful and positive atmosphere in the school.

Duties include:
The day-to-day management of the teaching team and student needs
Ongoing professional teacher development, including:
Regular teacher observations (training given)
Placement testing and other didactic everyday duties
Assisting in the planning of lessons, workshops, social activities, summer camps
Managing teacher meetings
Implementation of student retention activities
Evaluation and reporting of targets
Teaching (teaching hours can be up to 10 hours a week, including subbing)
Liaising with clients, attending meetings, course presentations, seminars and conferences
Office duties, including:
Assisting Centre Manager with client support
Keeping the school Management System updated
Assisting with timetables, assigning teachers to courses, creating courses on the management system.
Checking registers, timetables, all teacher documents and reports
Liasing regularly with headquarters
Keeping up to date with school policies and information, and promoting it with clients and teachers
Driving to various off-site locations and adapting regular office hours to occasional school requirements.

Job Requirement:
Previous training experience
Excellent communication, interpersonal, time management, and organisational skills
Flexibility and cultural awareness
B2 level of Italian (candidates should be able to discuss course contents and negotiate terms with Italian clients, and speak to students and parents of students).
BA or MA
CELTA/Trinity TESOL or equivalent
At least 3 years post qualification experience
Full mastery of English across all 4 skills to CEFR C2
A clean, valid driving license to drive in Italy, and the ability to drive in Northern Italy
Excellent use of word, xcel and ppt

Previous experience in a similar role
Specialist YL certification (Cambridge YL extension or IHCYL)
DELTA/Trinity Diploma
Jolly Phonics training / Certificate
Cambridge Oral Examiners

National agreement contract that includes pension, health insurance, paid leave and unpaid leave.
For a yearly job, candidates will receive a monthly salary plus an extra monthly bonus.
Flight cost refund for teachers staying over 2 years
Twenty- one days paid annual leave plus fifteen national holidays paid per year.
