Observation of in-service teachers is one aspect of performance appraisal that Directors of Studies need to manage, particularly in reference to point 3.6 of the IH Quality Standards Charter. We all know what it’s like being observed from our own teacher training, but maybe we don’t necessarily have experience being on the other side (observing), nor are we necessarily aware of how it can be quite a different process. This session will focus on how Directors and Senior Teachers can effectively manage this process and how it can impact on teacher development and improve the quality of teaching within a school.
