IH Katowice

IH Katowice is a well-established, quality-focused language school in Katowice. Our long history and strong reputation means we are well-recognised in the local market. As well as being an affiliate of IHWO, the school has been granted quality accreditation of ‘Kuratorium’ (the Polish state institution for education). Rather than specialising in a particular area of English teaching, we offer a wide variety of courses. The school sites are located close to the city centre and are based in the school’s own premises. The sites offer comfortable classrooms, a teachers’ room with a well-stocked resource area and all the expected facilities, including interactive whiteboards and Wi-Fi. See the teachers’ zone section of the school website:,78.html

Katowice is a university city with the University of Silesia and the Silesian Polytechnic based here.  Katowice also boasts an Academy of Music and an Academy of Fine Arts.  This means that there is a large student community in the city.  This attracts many cultural events including concerts of the world’s most famous artists like Sting, U2, Metallica, Robbie Williams, Depeche Mode, Deep Purple and Pink Floyd held in Katowice, in the most famous Polish sport and concert hall ‘Spodek’ ( i.e. ‘Flying Saucer’ and refers to the specific architectural style of the building).

In your spare time you may chose from a plethora of clubs, bars, restaurants, cafes, go to one of the three multiplex cinemas (including an Imax Cinema) or go shopping in the one of many shopping centres and hypermarkets including Ikea, Auchan, Carrefour and Tesco in the Silesia Centre shopping mall (the biggest in Poland). You can also enjoy a walk in the biggest park in Europe, located in the neighbouring town of Chorzów. Katowice is an excellent base for exploring Poland and Central Europe with connections to Prague, Vienna, Bratislava and Budapest, and easy links to Krakow and Wroclaw by train. The Beskidy Mountains are nearby to the south for hiking in the summer and skiing in the winter.
