Job Description La Spezia is situated on the north-west coast of Italy between Pisa and Genoa. The town itself is essentially a naval base and rather provincial, but the surrounding coast and countryside are extremely beautiful. Sarzana on the other hand is a charming old market just 25 kilometres inland on the borders of Tuscany. Both towns are well placed strategically for visiting other interesting places, such as Florence, Genoa, Pisa, Parma, and are only one hour from the nearest ski resort.
We are looking for someone with good organisational skills and good computer skills and a driving licence. Preferably with the DELTA or a Young Learners coordinating experience. To work with the Director, Assistant Director and AdoS to, provide English courses and services of the highest possible quality according to the spirit and the criteria of IH and with respect for the financial health of the school. To oversee the educational content of any other courses or educational projects the school may be involved in.
Responsible for the creation and the organisation of new English courses with particular private and in-school group courses.
This involves:
carrying out entrance testing and initial counselling/guidance for prospective students;
forming homogenous groups, checking levels and needs and monitoring progress;
ensuring the compilation of all necessary administration (registers, test, reports, questionnaires, etc.);
dealing with students' problems and complaints and generally monitoring student satisfaction, providing a point of reference, in-school students;
providing advice and information to students about the school's services (courses abroad, video and study centre, etc.).
The person will be based in La Spezia but will be expected to go to the smaller school in Sarzana once a week to supervise and support the teachers there.(about 20 mins by car or train).
