Voting for the 2008 Language Travel Magazine Star Awards has now ended and IH is happy to announce that the following schools were nomintated for the Award:

Charity Auction at the IH Directors' Conference

This year's Charity Auction was the most successful yet, raising over 5,000 euros! The proceeds will go towards a boarding school for girls which is currently being built in Southern Sudan.
Thanks to all the Directors who brought a little (or big!) something from their country to be auctioned and thanks to Monica Green and Lyndy Cronin for hosting the event.
We look forward to seeing you all next year!

This year's annual IH Younger Learner Conference was generously hosted by IH Torres Vedras in Portugal. The gentle weather - 20 degrees in November - and the warm welcome from the school and city made this conference a resounding success. Delegates from a large number of IH countries - the largest attendance yet for YL specialists - met to share ideas, network and learn from experts in the field, and see new materials from exhibitors & sponsors CUP, Macmillan, DELTA, Express.

This year's ICEF Berlin Workshop brought together 1435 schools and agents from 82 different countries. 21 International House schools presented their programmes to the agencies in the “IH Village”, and IH World had a stand to provide a meeting place for agents from around the world. On November 6th International House “rocked Berlin" again at the legendary canal boat party, where 75 agencies joined the IH team for a wonderful dinner and amazing dance party while cruising on the River Spree through the centre of Berlin.

IH Kuala Lumpur's university opens in London

IH Kuala Lumpur is part of the international Limkokwing University, based in Cyberjaya in Malaysia's capital. Limkokwing University has created the 'Global Classroom' which allows students to get a degree while stiudying on 3 continents. International House Palma celebrates!

This year, 2007, marks the 20th anniversary of International House in Palma de Mallorca, capital of the beautiful Balearic Islands. Opened in September 1987 by the late, and much-missed Ben Warren, IH Palma joined not only the IH World Organisation but also the growing IH Eastern Spain group of schools.
It was a modest start with 5 teachers teaching general English to adults and young learners - just 8 groups of kids in those days – and one CELTA course in the summer.

IH Workshop - a great success!

The recent IH World Study Abroad Workshop was held on the idyllic island of Gozo, a short boat trip from Malta. 27 IH schools and 50 agents attended along with a representative from Language Travel Magazine and all agreed it was 'the best workshop I've been to!'
A hectic social programme was also arranged which ranged from a traditional Gozitan folklore night to jeep tours and visits to prehistoric sites. Participants also managed to fit in a bbq and wine tasting...

IH Portugal Symposium Success!

This year's IH Portugal Symposium was hosted in Viseu by Gay Adamson and the team at International House Viseu.
The Symposium attracted a large number of teachers from various types of schools across Portugal. Guest speakers came from various countries, including Mario Rinvolucri, Annie Hughes and Mary Spratt from UK.
