Q - Why study with IH Study Abroad?

Q - What's the best way to learn a new language?

It certainly isn't by reading a textbook alone. It's by living the culture and language and that can of course only be done in the country itself.
International House schools understand that in order to learn a language, our courses need to be tailor-made to the needs of our students - combining classroom input with the excursions you are interested in, and carefully selected homestay accommodation to give you the chance to continue to practise what you have learned in the classroom that day.

Whether your language skills are rusty, fluent, or you are an absolute beginner, our tried and tested placement testing system has proven time and again to be effective at finding this out for you. We at International House appreciate that being tested for your language ability can initially be intimidating and that's why out testing system is as friendly and informal as possible.

Q - If teachers don't speak my language, how can they teach me?

Our communicative methodology pioneered since our founding in 1953 and constantly updated since then has retained one key quality: we only use the target language in the classroom. All of our teachers are especially trained to teach you without using your native language.
