Lacunza-IH San Sebastian donates more than €1,000 every year to various Spanish charities, including the Asociación Contra el Cáncer (AECC), DYA (an ambulance service) and Portal Solidario.
The environment is another of its target areas. Last year Lacunza-IH collected more than 250 used coursebooks from its students, and sent them to Guatemala, thanks to the charity Fe y Alegria.
This year it has collected unwanted mobile phones for the Jane Goodall Institute’s “Movilízate por la selva” campaign which aims to recycle these phones in order to protect the forests and improve the lives of chimpanzees.
Some years ago, in 2006, Lacunza-IH hosted the Director’s Conference in San Sebastian. The money raised and a bit more given by Lacunza-IH, €4,000 altogether, was used by the charity Jangela Solidarioa to guarantee food, health and education for more than 500 hundred orphans in Wukro (Tipray, Ethiopia).
Surfrider Foundation Europe is a non-profit organisation dedicated to defending, improving and managing the ocean, coastline, waves and the people who enjoy them. Lacunza-IHs next plan, for this summer, is to help educate children about the environment.
