Inspired by Sarah Clow, a British colleague whose brother was recently diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, teachers at IH San José organised a charity screening of the cult movie ‘Rocky Horror Story’ to celebrate Halloween and raise funds for the Costa Rican MS foundation. Predictably, the action was not restricted to the screen: people danced, sang along, joined in the dialogue, threw rice, burst balloons, snapped latex gloves and did all the other things that are essential to a real Rocky Horror night out. They raised £200 on the night.
To raise even more funds, on 4th December Sarah and 11 other teachers and students ran distances of 4k and 8k in the Costa Rica marathon to raise £1,005 for the charity. Despite the blazing sun, all runners completed the course and had a fantastic time.
The runners were Hana Ozaki, Craig Russell, Felipe Mendez, Mark Hurney, Sarah Clow, Donal Cregg, Mike Godfrey, Nick Jacobson, Meg Durnsford, William Meoño, Ben Naismith and Andrea Castro.
